"Hello All,

I Just bought a Glastron Carlson boat for fun. The trim will go down, but will not come up. I found the wires coming from the outdrive to be hanging, one is purple, and the other is a 2 wires into one(2 blue) into a larger green wire setup. I found a purple eye type connector in the bottom of the boat, must have rotted away from the purple wire, and went to a terminal somewhere. I jumped the green wire with a 12 volt wire, and the outdrive came up just fine. Does anyone now where these wires hookup on the solenoid, or harness?
Thank you."

Ray:

Which trim pump does it have? All black and one solenoid or black pump over a white plastic reservior w/2 solenoids?

The purple wire I think is power to the trim limit switch. The 2 blue wires connected to a green wire; is the green wire bare ended? Do the blue and green wires connect w/bullet connectors? Any way you can post some pics.?

"Guy,
The pump is all black, and has 1 solenoid. There is a bullet connector linking the 2 smaller blue wires into the larger green wire, which is bare. I think you may be right sbout the limit switch/purple wire - where is that switch, roughly? I can upload pictures tomorrow.
Thanks."

What year engine & OD?

What year engine & OD?

It looks like a small hocky puck on the upper port side of the outdrive.

"Ray youi need a schematic that I do not have at hand at the moment.

basically what you have is this

you have power to the trim button panel (three button)
when you push the bottom button full power goes to the motor from the button. Green wire (most likely 10 guage) this should drive the motor and the outdrive down.

When you push middle trim button I belive the only solenoid on the pump should turn on and drive the outdrive up. It will raise up until the TRIM LIMIT SWITCH is hit/opened. (normally closed switch) That is normally found on the left side of the outdrive where it rotates (looking at the drive from rear of boat)it looks like a round piece of plastic.

Once the switch is open you must push both middle and top buttons to raise the outdrive to the trailer position. By pushing the top and middle button you bypass the switch and apply 12 volts to the up solenoid from the top button thru the middle button.

The best thing to do is apply 12 volts to the small terminal on the solenoid at the pump ( small blue wire I believe, the other is or should be black {ground} do not connect power to this one.

If the outdrive raises then the solenoid is good.

Also make sure you have a good 12 volts at the large terminal on the solenoid as that is the power source for the UP trim circut.

If someone can post a schematic of the older wiring for the three BUTTON system that would help."

This is a schematic I found, which I think is correct for my boat.
Thanks."

I took the liberty to redraw it so it may be better understood. The colors should be correct but if not you should get the idea. I think I have a blue when it should be maybe purple.

If it helps great. If there are any questions ask!

"Thanks to all for now, it has been helpful. I need to do some more chasing down on the wiring."

"JUST sorted this on a '75 302/888 - and I'd bet the wire(s) going through transom to stop switch near top of gimbal housing are rotted or broken. Also - with mine, the shifter must be in forward to activate UP - regardless of sensor switch status (two blue wires that run through a small contact switch on top rear port side of engine)."
