"Ive got alot of oil in my air box.looks like its spraying out of all carbs.the inside cover shows oil in front of each carb. on a flushette idlling I dont see any spitting, but if I crack the throttle it will spit fuel.is this normal? also the motor idles fine, pulls and sounds good to about 4500rpm,at this point it sounds differnt and accelleration slows down. it will go to about 5000 rpm. shouldnt this motor run strong to 5500rpm? Oh yea and like that other fella said it uses an ungodly amount of fuel. Can reeds cause this problem?Ive been barking up a lot of trees trying to get this motor to run right. hope some one can help."

One step at a time----Put a ti

One step at a time----Put a timing light on each plug and verify that you have spark as you go to full throttle. Then use a strong flashlight and look into each carburetor bore as to go to full throttle and observe the amount of fuel coming up the main jet.Lasr does the primer bulb go hard as you fill the carburetors??? If it does not you may have fuel pump problems ( internal leakage )

"thanks for responding ikia.primer bulb goes hard.Ijust rebuilt carbs had warped float chambers.vro pump has been removed and replaced with two fuel pumps #438559,they are plumbed in seires meaning one pumps through the other they also have 3/8 inlets and 5/16 outlets and will pump 5psi at idle. I dont know about wot.compresson is 92 to 95 psi on all cylinders. Its got good 7/16 inch spark at idle on all 6 holes.spark plugs in #5 and #6 show a wet oily condition.#5 seems to be worse. the rest appear to be firing right. I thought this was still a carb problem. I will verify spark at wot, could be the culprit"

"I have aquired a 26 ft 6in. center console Wellcraft V20 with a 1989 120 hp Johnson. Then hull is sound and the boat is rated for a 200 hp outboard. I plan to rebuild the transom reinforced with sealed plywood and aluminun sheeting for strength and durability, after which I will replace the outboard. I am thinking of an outboard between 175 to 200hps. I would appreciate advise and recommendations on this project.
