"Can anyone give me the correct carbruator float height from the charts for this model? Also the specified turns out for the pilot screw. I am assuming 1 1/2 to 1 3/4. I am running a smooth idle but miss during acceleration. The compression is good, plugs are a bit fouled on the upper 2 cylinders. "

"[b]Thanks for the specs. Too

"Thanks for the specs. Took everything apart, recleaned, adjusted two floats to 17mm, inspected everything with a magnifying lens. Runs perfect. Can't wait to hit the coast. Thanks again."

My next quest is to fix the rmp gauge. The gauge goes all the way up whenever the engine is on even at idle speed. I don't really need the gauge but it gives me something to tinker with. Where is the rpm sensed?

"}[b]So I checked the battery

"}So I checked the battery voltage, regulator seems to be functioning correctly, (charge increases with increasing rpms). Checked for signal at rpm meter it is present and varies with rpms. Guess the gauge is shot. I guess the rpm meter is just a glorified voltage meter. Thanks for helping me to understand where the signal was coming from so I knew where to look. "

"[b]next question. This outbo

"next question. This outboard is 19 years old. Very little maintance over the years other than cleaning the carbs and changing the impeller, lower unit oil once in a while. Now running better than ever. Should I be changing thermostat, fuel pump at this stage or just wait until something breaks? Is there an age that these type of units need preventive maintance?"
