89 johnson 40hp trim motor issue

After replacing the stator and rectifier, my motor now electrically engages the trim motor when I hit half throttle. I recently replaced the trim switch, but it happens when the trim switch is disconnected as well, so the issue has to be with the power bar that the rectifier sends power to. There are no exposed wires that I can find. My sense is that the wiring diagram is different between the old stator (that apparently was faulty and only used for about 3 years) and the new stator/rectifier. I can't find anyone who has run into this problem. Also, the trim switch works flawlessly when I use it, so it doesn't appear to be the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. It doesn't replicate until you get to half throttle.
