I am having problems with my 3

I am having problems with my 30hp slipping at higher rpm. When my whaler is full of people and I try to speed up the engine starts to rev and slows down. Acts like transmission is slipping. Does this engine have a cluch of some type that would need tightening? Model #E30eced

"It might be the propeller hup

"It might be the propeller hup spinning. Normally then the engine revs up and speeds goes down, or the prop starts ventilating (too heavy load for the prop blades). I suspect the first. This means change of prop or at least prop hub. As for props on that engine and running with heavy load, I allways used the original 4 blade props used on the 3 cyl 25-35."

"Remove the nut holding the prop. You will notice a metal, splined inner sleeve which meshes with the prop shaft. Between there and the prop you will see a large central rubber bushing. These components make up the prop hub. Mark the splined inner sleeve with an awl, screwdriver, etc. Then make a corresponding mark on the prop itself, directly across from the mark on the spline. Run the boat until "it slips." Re-check the prop. If the lines are no longer matched, you need the prop re-hubbed."
