89 DT115 starting problem

Hi all, I am new to the forum, I just bought a boat with an 89 Dt115 Suzuki motor. The boat had no fire when I got it and was told it probably need a CDI unit. i bought a used one and installed it. Now it cranks over but wont fire until I let off the key. When I let off the key it starts for a second and then shuts right off again. Any ideas where to go next???? Aany help is greatly needed. Thanks in advance.

Hi, where do you live? I don't know if that CDI works, but I have all the spares, in good working condition if you need anything, CDI included. I live in Johannesburg South Africa.

Your going to need to unplug the key switch then check for spark on motor by jumping the starter solenoid and look for spark

Sounds like a bad key switch
