OK I have owned this engine about 8 years. Still is running very well.
1st time out this year (today) it would stop pumping water after a few minutes. I pulled the plastic end off the hose, restart, replaced plastic piece, and all would be good for a few minutes, and it would do it again. Finally on the way back in it pumped strong all the way. Almost hurts to put your finger under the stream.
End of 09' season I completely tore down the lower due to my 12 yr. old son slamming into gear. Sheared drive balls. Ran fine all of 10' season. (We use this engine a lot) Salt water and fresh. I did the water pump at the time since it was completely apart.
I found nothing plugging the plastic piece.
What should I look for when I drop it this time?
Almost seems like it is loosing prime/sucking air from somewhere?
Or is the impeller slipping?
I just don't want to do the water pump and put it back and have the problem still there.
Thanks again, as you all have been extremely helpful to me in the past.
