89 25 hp two stroke bleed system

Can someone tell me how the bleed system on my 89 25 hp works. According to the repair manual each hose end is supposed to have a check valve in it. It is not clear which end the check valve is in, which way it is supposed to allow air to flow, and how to remove the check valves if one is bad. Thanks for any help provided

Don't kno specifically for this engine but takes residual engine oil in crankcase and suck it back the intake//carb.
The check valve may be in the fitting in the block don't kno what end can try blowing in each hose and see hope this helps
