"Hi all, I have seen similar post with problems as I am experiencing in here, but now can not find them.

I have an 89 'rude 200hp(xp), at start up and low idle, it smokes REALLY bad. I have disconnected the VRO, running either pennzoil or evinrude tcw3 at 50:1. If you take out the plugs there is a oily residue, almost dripping off the plugs. The machine also sneezes terribly at start up. I am thinking a powerpack (just a guess), but before I go and start to shot gun parts, I would like some advise.

Thanks for your help, and maybe I will see you on the lake(i'll be the one with the blue smoke trailing behind)."

"I would first, check linkage and synchronization of carbs and ignition.I would do a thorough tune-up,and de-carb.Ck eng temp on both heads to make sure thermo's are working.A change of recirc valves would also prob help. And,i would suggest a good carb cleaning,...and rebuild w/new parts.Run ql7jc4 plugs, gapped at .035.All of this is done of course,w/the assumption that comp/spark is good."

jwb...thanks for the response.

First thing I would check is to make sure someone didn't accidentally double up on the oil. Happens to the best of us!

"I JUST did a job 4 a woman w/a 225j & she was smok'n bad also all of a sudden her problem was the fuel side of her vro failed the pressure test.the oil side passed. her sencer on the vro gave her a clue through the horn even though she could run, but we put a new vro before any major damage/ cleared right up run like a top."
