'89 150 hp not charging

OK, not having any luck with the charging systems on either my 115 or 150. The 150 I found out today is not charging. I've checked the stator resistance, and get about 1.5 ohms across the yellow and yellow/grey leads. Testing for ground indicates no problem there. I don't have the book on the 150, so is 1.5 ohms a good number for the stator?

The tach is working on this motor too, as it did on the 115 when it wasn't charging. The 115 needed a rectifier to get it to charge, am I going to need to change out the regulator/rectifier on the 150? I believe its a 9 amp model, definately not a 35 amp system.

thanks in advance
Bill

1.5 ohms is good. If you can get hold of a manual it will give you instructions for testing the rectifier/regulator.

I have a manual for testing a '91. What I don't have is a 40 amp ammeter. I do have a spare (new) regulator off another 115 I have for parts, and according to the parts lists on here it's the same part. So, maybe I'll just swap them. If the 1.5 ohms is good, then it's gotta be the regulator, because there is nothing going to the battery, and all of the connections that I could find a good, clean, and tight.

Thanks,
Bill
