J120TXCEM I just picked up this motor a week ago and the motor won't fire. I did a compression test with a homeowners type compression tester and got readings of 118 to 120 psi in all cylinders. I also had the starter rebuilt and made sure the battery was fully charged. Disconnected the key and kill switch from the system and also tried Joe Reeve's spark tester with the result being no spark at all. There doesn't seem to be any melted residue under the flywheel, though there is a greasy type dirt.

I have a Seloc manual for the motor and an ohm meter. I plan on following the steps laid out in the manual. Are there any other tests I could perform that would tell me what is wrong?

In trying to start the motor it doesn't seem the plugs are getting wet either.

Any help is appreciated.

John

Kind of seems like a bad power pack but you need a DVA adapter to test your stator and Timer base to rule them out, and aso your power pack.

Poop, I don't have a dva adapter but thanks. Kim, the grounds and connections are good advice, I really like the idea of the sea foam. I didn't realize it would do that and I'll give it a try. I'll let you know how it works out once I get the motor running. John

Well, my no spark problem was a bad powerpack and there is no gas problem. Motor starts right up. Thanks for your responses and help. John
