888, 302 dipstick location?

Hello: On a '72 mercruiser 888 with 302 Ford, where does the dipstick tube go? Between head and manifold? Mine had it bent, curled up under the manifold. Seems very wrong and doesn't really clear the engine box. Seloc and Clymer books don't show it. Motor is out now and manifolds off so all locations are possible. Thanks for a great forum.

Hmmm.. Thanks. That's a different pan. Mine's a rear sump, double hump, left side dipstick. Maybe not Merc but it's been working fine. Anyway, would the tube run inboard of the manifold against the block/head or out and around?

oops. The tube is actually on the right.
