"I finally got this motor fixe

"I finally got this motor fixed up and running after 17yrs of hibernation. Took it out yesterday for the first time and run it. Seem to run great besides after you throttle up and run it then try to go back down to neutral, it stalls and wont idle. I have to back and pump the tank primer, choke it from the engine, and restart it. And after it warms up it barely idles and sometimes stalls. The tank im using for this is not a mercury tank and doesnt have an in line prime bulb, it is an old evinrude tank with a internal primer pump manually operated externally. Could this be a problem? I havent tore the carb apart at all and cleaned and dont really want to, Is there something i can run through it to maybe cleanse it? My idle asjustment on the choke handle doesnt seem to affect anything when turned and the push to choke ignition doesnt seem to do anything. Could there be a problem there. Also, I havent yet changed the plugs. They didnt look to bad and were throwing hot blue spark so I havent changed them yet. Could this be the problem? Thanks in advance to any advise."

"took it out again today. Ive

"took it out again today. Ive found that, as long as I keep the choke on in the back it stays running when I throttle down and idle. But threw blue smoke some."

That'll be the pistons mel

That'll be the pistons melting if you keep running it that way. Rebuild the fuel system or start looking for a new power head.
