88 mariner 50horse lower unit

I've got an 88 mariner 50 hp lower unit is pretty rough I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the lower unit of an 89 35 hp mercury or one of a 94 or 96 40hp would fit on my mariner. Thank for the help in advance.
