"Still working on the wiring p

"Still working on the wiring problem. (I can start the motor with the switch but I can't shut it off. I tried a different switch, but got the same results.) I have run every wire several times, using the manual. I've disconnected, cleaned and reconnected all grounds.

I must be overlooking something. Any thoughts?"

"Thanks! But that's not it

"Thanks! But that's not it. It isn't the ignition switch, I tested that with another control. I think it must be under the cowling, maybe a ground wire I haven't found.

I have replaced the power pack, I'm back to 4 cyl, engine running great, but can't turn it off without unplugging power pack from stator.

There is a black and yellow wire coming off the power pack. I think the problem is between the big red plug and the power pack. Someone else has been monkeying with the wires before I started working on it.

I'd appreciate any suggestions!"

"u r gonna blow electrics ,kil

"u r gonna blow electrics ,killing it like that..use the chk..ck the blk yellow connection at pack....use a tester,..w/key OFF,blk yell wire needs to be grounded,..if it is not,..keep searching...if it is grnded, bad pack...chk grnd wire fr blk to key switch."

"Sorry please be patient.. Her

"Sorry please be patient.. Here is what I understand:

So with key on, blk yell should test hot; key off blk yell should test dead? If it doesn't test dead, keep searching.

On another track: Could the red plug be the culprit? (Pins are clean)."

"ok,..the blk /yell is strictl

"ok,..the blk /yell is strictly kill..there should never be any voltage.....
to test harness and key sw,..disc blk/yell at pack....hook ohm meter to harness blk/yellow,set to high ohms etc,..w/key OFF u should show,continuity...w/key on,u should not have continuity...and,sw to volts,w/key ON,ck same wire for any volts.(none wanted)
The red plug,could certainly be the prob..basically,the sw,conn's the blk & blk/yellow,to ground,to kill pack,...either wire,faulty,would make it not shut off,in off position...hope that helps.ck the ground wires,on eng,..and on key sw.."

OK. While I try all that out I

OK. While I try all that out I need a way to SAFELY kill the engine. Would it be ok to pull the black/yellow from the connection or can you suggest something else?

(I think I'm going to have to you buy a Coors Lite distributorship before I'm finished. Thanks!)

"yep..just my brand...excellen

"yep..just my brand...excellent vintage.....choke,the eng to stop...but,u dont even have to have it running,to ck kill circuit..use,a spark tester...pull plugs,and crank,...if spark,ur system,is not yet wking,...in the OFF ,position.."

"GOT IT! Black and yellow kill

"GOT IT! Black and yellow kill a fellow... or is that the snake? But that was it, I found a bad splice from the previous owner. Took it back to the big red plug to find it.

Thanks for sticking with me on this!"
