87' mercury 50hp shuts down

HELP!!! I have a 1987 Mercury 50hp and it starts and runs perfect for about 5 minutes. Then it shuts off and doesn't want to restart. I have replaced the entire fuel line and primer bulb. I just bought this boat recently and don't want to put it on the water until I know it will start reliably. It warms up and pees water like it supposed to so I don't think it is overheating. It starts very easily when cold and revs up no problem, but once it cuts out its hard as hell to get re-started again. Fuel filter maybe?

If it shuts off instantly it is an ignition problem--------If it sputters / surges it is likely a fuel problem.--------------------Check kill switch on the control too.
