"just bought a skeeter w/ 87 e

"just bought a skeeter w/ 87 evinrude 110hp vro. sat for 3-5 yrs. hard start cold but ran great 1st 3 outings. filled tank w/gas on lake ran great wot appx 15mins then lost power can go 6mph max(2000 rpm max) , any more throttle stalls, soft bulb, i replaced old (probably original) fuel line, no change, cleaned & gapped plugs, no change. sometimes alarm will sound short beeps, tonight while alarm sounding got some speed, alarm beeps were faster when engine faster, then stalled and alarm constant til turned off key. also there is a small knob under key - what is it?"

"I'm not an expert on these, but...
Hard to start cold - well, pushing the key should engage cold start chocke (or do I remember wrong for a '87).
Short beeps should indicate oil problems in vro. Recommend not to run engine until oil flow is checked.
Longer beeps are high-temp warnings, propably caused by insufficient water flow, most commonly due to a worn-out impeller."

What is the oil ratio on the new style VRO pump? Have a 99
J50PLEEA (Johnson 50 h.p.) do alot of slow idle trolling with it needs fuel pump. Trying to decide between VRO pump & regular
fuel pump. VRO pump on it now with no plug fouling problems.

"ron,it sounds like u have the 'no-oil,warning' type of vro,....w/the short rapid beeps,this is indicating u r rec no oil,for whatever reason,to the vro,and therefore,NONE,to engne.I recommend,that u do a full eng evaluation.spark tests,COMPRESSION ck's,and either replace and update to a newer vro,or get off of it..this is of course,if your eng compression,cylinders,and pistons look good visually....

"JWB thank you. I spent the day rebuilding the carbs, new plugs and disconnected the VRO. I will try it out tommorow.If this does not work any other thoughts on no power under load. On the muffs it runs great until I drop it in the lake. I will advise if this works"

"Started great. in neutral 4500 rpm, in gear still only 2500 rpm max then stalls out. On the muffs runs great in or out of gear. Under the load NO POWER. Bulb was soft wile running. FUEL PUMP ?????"
