I have a 87 bayliner with a cracked block and I'm trying to see what blocks will work that I can rebuild and put in. maybe from mustang or ranger? help!

im not absolutely certain but Im pretty sure they used the 2.3 ford engine for that application.... if so, it will have a fairly large 2.3 cast into the side of the block about midway between front and back, and about half way between the head mating surface and the oil pan mating surface.... I cant remember which side, but its well marked and obvious if you check both sides of the block.

I would use the cam and head off of your broken engine, as a marinized head has hardened exhaust valve seat/inserts, and an automotive head wont last but a short while in a boat..... and the cam in the marine engine is proven for a marine application, where as most street/automotive cams will cause problems...

AND, you should do some research, as I think a 2.5 liter is the same block up until 2000... you might be able to gain a few hp without any additional cost.
