Had the motor tuned up and it runs great, still experimenting with the tilt notches to elimnate the cavitation at WOT going straight. However, I am experiencing a slight starting issue.
The guy who synced my motor told me when it was cold to hold in on the key for about 10 seconds before I cranked it over. It just really doesnt wanna start after that. I can get it running and run it a ways down the water and shut it off and it is so hard to start. I noticed that the red lever on the primer , when turned towards the rear has fuel leaking, nothing bad but it is present. Doesnt leak at all when turned towards the front., My question is would that small leak cause my problem, even if it isnt leaking in the position pointing towards the front?
I took it out the other night fishing and it like to have never started. Here is what I did. set anchor and fished for about an hour or so, got ready to move, Turned key on ( didnt crank) pushed in and held it for 10 seconds, cranked it and it wouldnt start, so I repeated, and this time when I cranked I would bump the key inwards a couple of times and raised the idle arm, still nothing, finally after about 5-6 minutes of cranking ( not continuous) it would hit and finally start. Its got new plugs and has been synced, so Im wondering if maybe the primer valve has a crack or something that I cant see that is causing it to suck air. Ive ordered the new service valve kit , but was just wondering if there might be some other issue.
