Motor is a 1985 mariner 75hp I bought the motor brought home put it in a drum of water hooked up everything. It ran not good but it ran. Proceeded to mount the motor on the boat. Once mounted I replaced the water pump and rebuilt the carbs. Yesterday I tested the motor it started within 5sec of cranking and ideled. It ideled/ ran at varying higher rpms for three to five minutes. It ran great and pumped water even better. I shut it off to look at the spark plugs and make a carb adjustment. Motor has not started since. It has no spark. I have followed the test procedure and came up with the following results.
Kill switch-good
Switch box -bad
Stator-bad
Trigger-bad
Coils -good
I have a hard time believing the switch box stator and triggers all went at the same time. Did I mention it was running fine. I **** off with the key and bam all electrical is shot? I'm sure I am missing something. But what???
