85 evinrude surging

Thanks everyone on the help with the remote control,got it up and running.Had the boat on the lake a couple of times and now I notice the engine surging at full throttle, then it stops surging but is down on power. Any ideas? Thanks!
 
I have the same trouble with my 83 force 85 hp. You can check the force forum to see what I have done so far if you want. Needless to say if you correct the problem I wou;d appreciate a shout.

Shine a strong flashlight into the carburetor bores at full throttle.---------------Observe how fuel is coming up the high speed jets.---------------Simple / effective / no cost testing !!
 
Its a 1977 model 85hp evinrude. what should I look for with flashlight? Are you thinking carb,fuel pump,filter,maybe sucking air someplace?
 
It is a simple , simple check too see if fuel flows properly from high speed jets.--------------When you do this check you will see how simple this is AND it cost no money to do proper trouble shooting !!-----------------I trouble shoot motors and do not guess.--------------I see lots of posts that say things like " I installed a new powerpack $$$$$$-motor still runs the same "--------or the other one " I rebuilt the carburetors with new kits $$$$$$$ and it still runs the same "
