"Hey all, I am new to the forum and very recently just got back into boating and fishing after taking 10 years off. 6 weeks ago I purchased a 86 Cadorette fibreglass fishing boat (centre console) with a 85 30hp evinrude (electric start.} So excited to get my first boat in 10 years, I have been out on the lake 2 - 3 times a week since. With no issues what so ever. Today I got stuck on the launch and had to troll motor it back. After a few attempts at starting the boat initially (it was cold this morning) the motor was cranking perfectly, then all off a sudden when I turned the key it would hesitate then barely crank (at times it would not crank at all) After 1 hr of trying i gave in and headed home with my head down. Once I got home i cleaned all the connecctins, checked the voltage of the battery, which was 12v, I also checked the voltage at the positive connection to the starter which was 12v. If anyone can offer any suggestions I would sure appreciate it, I know my boat is not much, but it drained my account purchasing it none the less
, and I can not afford to take it to a marine shop and pay their labour. If I have to I will, but my season will end early this year.
Thanks
Shane"
