New to the boating experince a

New to the boating experince and have used this site for much of my new knowledge. there is a lot to learn..too much. the engine runs great starts everytime. has new plugs and wires. out of hole i can lift a 200lbs skiier but will not pick up speed. the engine actually slams back to the lowest trim level after take off with only two people on boat. Is the trim hydrolic and could have a pressure leak? It will plane out when i turn the boat even with a full load. You can hear the rpms increase and feel the speed. What could it be?

"check your trim fluid. will the trim raise fully? if so does it stay up? check the manual release for tightness. if its tight, remove it, and check the o rings on it. you must remove a circlip for it to come out."

"scott, thanks for the help. i checked out the ptt out of the water and had a friend tilt up and down and saw that i had a small leak coming from the port side trim cylinder. looks like a gasket problem. I am debating whether or not if it is worth fixing on my own. i would have to buy a special tool, gasket(s), and time. should i have the pro's do a complete overhall or just? Should i replace everything i can if i take it apart? thanks again. oh and i bought a SELOC repair book. not sure where the manual release is exactly. thanks"

"I have 1985 85hp evinrude v4 runs great. this past weekend I had trouble getting it in gear. WE were floating down the wabash. Some guy came over and adjusted linkage, is this the right fix or take it to the shop. Any help would greatly appreciated."
