85/85 psi compression 25hp 1998 Mercury tracker is this normal?

I loaned my brother my boat and when i picked it up a year or so later it wouldnt run, I checked the compression on it and the compression was 85/85 I think this must be low and i was told it couldn't be rebuilt, is this true

IF that tester is accurate, yes--really bad compression. When mine had about 90 pounds it was a dog.

Check it again with the throttle wide open.

This won't be popular to hear, but I've run tests checking compression on 2 strokes--throttle open or not--and found no difference.

Throttle " open " is a 4 stroke thing.-------On a 2 stroke the exhaust ports are WIDE OPEN and compression does not start till they are closed off.----Throttle position on a 2 stroke DOES NOT MATTER !

Was the tracker series a Force motor? I'm kinda thinking some of them were - if so I might be inclined to replace rather than repair..
