84 merc 90 no high rpm

All three carburetors are open

All three carburetors are opening up ?You have done a compression test?Checked that you have spark that will jump a gap of 7/16" at each cylinder?.

sounds like my 1977 85hp model

sounds like my 1977 85hp model. My compression is good.Had mechanic say he thought it was the stator. I was thinking fuel pump or carbs. If you push the choke or pump bulb will rpm's and speed pickup?
