Used boat all day Saturday wi

Used boat all day Saturday with no problems tried to go out Sunday morning and the battery did not have enough juice to get the engine started. What is the best way to test the engine to see if it? charging the battery? I was thinking just at the battery when the engine is running?? How many volts and amps should be coming off the engine at the battery. Thanks for all your help.

" Timp... If you have a tach and it operates, the charging system is okay. The tach operates off of the charging system.

Remove the positive cables (all) from the battery. Using a volt meter set to low DC voltage, connect the meter (with the engine NOT running) between the positive battery post and the cables. If a battery drain exists, the meter will reveal it.

Double check all battery cable connections (not just at the battery). Clean and retighten with a wrench or pliers, not with fingers.

There's a gauge available at any reliable automotive parts/tool store that has a cupped channel attached to the back of it. With the engine running, simply placing that gauge/channel over the positive cable will show whether the charging voltage is gaining access to the battery or not.
