84 johnson 115 rod torque specs

The rod caps are precision parts and must be fitted exactly.---Did you spend some time lining them up ????-----The torque must be around 370 inch-lbs !!!

I took my time lining it up my torque wrench was big to use I tried to get as close to 32 ft pounds but it is just a guess. Should I tear it down again and get someone to re-torque them.

It's an exact science my friend. The proper connecting rod bolt torque is as I stated above and again here:

29 to 31 foot pounds --- 348 to 372 inch pounds

Guessing games doesn't do it.... and a guess of 32 foot pounds if that's what you obtained, is over the specifications.

One of my factory manuals says that torque is 30 - 32 FT-LBS for the V-4 engines.-With screws lubricated by oil.---Same screw used for about 50 years on various models too.
