Just bought: '84 80Hp Mercury 2stroke centre consel top mount throttle shifter on a 17' aluminum deep 'n wide.
The engine starts and idles very well. Hitting the throttle linkage at the engine, it responds like a Ferari on the line.
In forward, it goes up to 3/4 throttle then for the rest of the shifter/throttle arm travel there is nothing.
Multiple attempts from slow to full throttle 2 out of 10-15 tries the rev's and speed was a bit better.
Does anyone have a diagnostic on what I'm likely looking at before I have to break the bank at the dealer repair crap table?
