Kurt.... Pay attention to who is giving you advice. You've thanked me twice but those thanks should have been directed at JWB.

"Either you've had the fly

"Either you've had the flywheel off and failed to torque the flywheel nut to 145 foot pounds which would result in a sheared flywheel key (out of time), OR you've hooked up some wires incorrectly from the timer base to powerpack or from the power pack to the coils."

wires are all hooked up back t

wires are all hooked up back to where they were we did have the fly wheel off torque could be the issue shoudnt be will check tomarrow if pin is sheared what next if pin is sheared ?thanks for the info joe any more info. is greatly app.thanks kurt

THANKS JWB FOR THE COLOR CODE

THANKS JWB FOR THE COLOR CODE WENT BACK OVER THE WIRES THEY ALL ARE IN PLACE AS YOU SAID STILL SCRATCHING MY HEAD COULD IT BE A BAD COIL OR POWER PACK THAT ISNT GIVING THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF VOLTAGE ? TALKING ABOUT THE BACKFIRING PROBLEM IF SO HOW OR WHAT DO I NEED TO CHECK THE VOLTAGE THANKS AGAIN FOR THE HELP BETTER THAN ANY OTHER WEBSITES THANKS AGAIN KURT O

"the most common things, that cause a severe backfire, are a sheered flywheel key,or wires where they are not supposed to be.......you are talking about backfiring thru the EXHAUST??"

"If the coil primary wires lea

"If the coil primary wires leading from the powerpack to the coils are, as JWB states, where they should be:

Top - Orange/Blue
Center - Orange
Bottom - Orange/Green

And those wires are leading to the correct bank, and you're sure that the flywheel key has not sheared, either the wires from the timer base to the powerpack are crossed OR the center epoxied timing sensor magnets located at the inner portion of the flywheel have started to melt down and have moved someewhat."

"Kurt,

"Kurt,

Did you figure out the problem with your engine? My engine is having the same problem. At first it idled great but would bog out and die when you gave it throttle. Now it idles poorly and backfires and still dies when you give it throttle. I am curious to see if you resolved your problem. Thanks."
