'83 70hp Evinrude Stator Test

Checked the voltage coming from the Stator, got about 4 volts AC. Does this sound like a bad stator or is there something else I should be looking at. Motor won't fire, get no spark at all.
 
i replaced stator on my motor recently based on low ohms. specs for my motor were in the 500 ohm range and mine was giving less than 300. My motor was getting spark on 2 cylinders and no spark on other 2 cylinders - so - a bad stator will definitely prevent spark. you might try to track down the resistance your stator should register and that is at least one additional thing you can use to justify replacing it.
 
I can't remember now but I thought we checked the resistance and it looked good. I may have to go back and check it again to be on the safe side.
