I have an 82 MC 228 GM 305, Cylinders 2, 3, 5 and 8 are producing little power. Compression is low on all cylinders 130 - 140 psig (engine has a lot of hours) but even. I was out running it last weekend all was normal and it just lost power. Idles OK. When I run the RPM's up to about 1500 it is quite rough but if I spray starter fluid down the left carb throat is smooths out and sounds/runs normal. There is a significant viable difference in gasoline flow between the right and left venturi. Spark is normal. My thought is the carb is bad, anyone seen this before? Any ideas would be appreciated, boat is old and has many hours (it was used at one time as a Lake Erie Walleye Charter) and I don't want to throw good money after bad. Thanks in advance.

Rebuild or replace the carb, install a new set of plugs if needed and run it till it quits.

Clean the carb? Great motor, I got 3000 hours out of mine with no rebuild, top or bottom. But the qjet carb gets dirty easily and dirt effects it greatly.
