I have an 1982 21' with an omc chevy v8 (I think its a 305). The engine mounts raise and lower to trim the boat. What is the fluid, and how do I check the level. The resevor isn't that big, and the mounts do weep. Any help would be great, even just point me in a direction. Thanks

there's a plug in the pump housing along the side. You can use any light hydraulic fluid (hydraulic jack oil from a hardware store, or even a 5W20 engine oil). You just fill it to the hole and reinstall the plug. Stick a piece of wire in to check current level.
You can buy all the seals for the mounts still from any Evinrude dealer (including this site - marineengine.com)
They're pretty easy to reseal.
If the leak gets any worse, watch the oil doesn't eat away at the wood in your boats stringers. It has softened the wood on a couple of cases in threads around these forums and made a real mess.

Thanks, The jack oil is doing the trick. The travel doesn't seem the same as it was before it total stopped ( ie : lack of fluid), and its kind of jumpy lifting the motor. I can't see a way to bleed it, so does it just have to work out any air if its in the system? Any help would be great, thanks
