Hey guys,
New member here but I've been a lurker for quite some time. Lots of great people and information on here! I usually find all the info I am looking for when I search the archives but this time I need a bit more help.
I bought a boat with an 81 Evinrude 35hp 2 stroke a couple months ago. Took the boat out for a test drive before I decided to buy it and the motor ran flawlessly. Strong startup, smooth idle, healthy stream from the pee hole... After storing it for a couple months, I pulled it out last night to run it before fishing tomorrow. She fired up just fine but no water flow from the pee hole.
I pulled the short rubber hose from the engine which directs water to the pee hole and pushed water through it just fine. So no obstruction there... Then I pulled the lower unit to inspect the impeller and water pump. All looked good... With the lower unit still apart, I pushed water through the pee hole (backwards flow) and the water came out of the water pump just fine... I figured there was a small obstruction, maybe a bug, and it is all clear now... Put everything back together and fired her up... SAME ISSUE. No water from the pee hole. I am at a loss of what to do now. Seems like the system is clear but why would water be able to flow backwards just fine but the engine wont pump it while running???
