"Finally put the boat in the w

"Finally put the boat in the water, started it up and ran motor for a minute then it died. Motor restarts and runs then dies, did that once then I took the cover off and found the lower starboard outside of the head is discolored from heat. The other three cylinders look just fine. I'm most certain ther was water coming from the telltale. Just came in from off the water, of course the wind and lack of trolling motor power made a short trip difficult. Where should I start? water pump? head gasket? at the dealer for a new one?"

thats a v4 crossflow ,the cyl banks cool together
it is common that one will be slightly warmer than the other.pull plugs look for proper color,
possable lean condition,olso stuck thermostat(s)
worst case rings piston going or gone.etc..."
 
"I took off lower unit to chec

"I took off lower unit to check water pump, found nothing, all fins on impeller, also ttok off t-stat housing to check t-stats. With hot water both t-stats opened. When motor was running it sounded like an exhuast leak was coming from the front of the middle section of motor(just under exhaust manifold). last year I had water coming out of that area."
