I have an 80's Mariner here I need help with the color codes of these wires to be able to test start this thing. I believe it's an 86? Electric start, long shaft, oil injected but the oil injection seems to be have removed? Fuel leaves the filter and travels until split into two right before the carbs.

Mariner 40 ELO
Code 6e9 L
Serial No 431458

The wires are sunfaded and this is the best I can make out. It's probably wrong but i've included pictures.

Black/Yellow
Yellow/Orangish-red
Yellow/black
Brown
Blue/Green
Grey
Black
Tan (could be faded red?)

Well shoot maybe i'll be able to answer part of my question here. I found This code guide and pulled back some of the wires from the harness and I think i've got it figured out below. Can anyone check my work? I'd rather not fry this trying to start it, my knowledge in this regard is somewhat limited, any info helps. Could I use a standard Mariner 3 position 6 connection push to choke ignition to wire to this? And what might the brown or tan? wire be for?

Black/Yellow ----------- shorting or stop
Yellow/Orangish-red --------- start switch to start solenoid to neutral start switch
Yellow/black ---------- choke
Brown or Tan? ---- ??????
Purple -------- ignition switch to 12v+
Grey -------- tachometer
Black --------------- ground
Red ----- unfused wire red positive
