80 hp merc. tack wire

I have a 1989 bluefin sportsman alunimun 17 ft. w/ 80 ob merc. 3 cyl. It doesnt have a tack. looking under the dash I see a 3 prong plug w/ purple black and pink wires. Could this be for a tack. ? I also see an extension with cap out of the quicksilver controls black w/5 prong plug. I would like to install a tack. What do I need ?

Hi jerry123, What year is your motor? You'll need the five pin wiring harness to fit the quicksilver control box.The five wires out will be brown/white stripe,purple,black.These are the trim indicator wires.The gray is the is the tach signal.You will need a loop from the purple to the +,the purple is the power if my memory serves me right, and from the black to - on the tach.The tan wire on the harness from the temp sender.I think this is the one you need Quicksilver 84-86396A Harness Kit .One on ebay at the moment
