"Why does this motor use an unvented fuel tank ? When it sits, the tank gets warm and loads up the carb, and will blow at you when you remove the tank cap. Does that mean the carb needs to be rebuilt ?

Since it does have a fuel pump, can I just use a vented gas cap to avoid the boil over"

"The two small stainless steel pins that you see where the fuel connector clips on are air vents, engaged when the connector is attached.

However, as you've found, the tank can build up with pressure. Best to simply loosen the cap slightly when not in actual use."

"Thanks JR for the fast reply,,,,,

so,,,, the motor really will not run right if you use a vented cap ?? My son said it seemed to surge a little and he had to pump the ball when he used it Friday,,,now that could be a lot of things,, not just a vented/non vented cap issue. I thought maybe a fuel pump kit would maybe give it just that added boost. I still have the original cap,, I just put a different vented cap on it for testing.

Well,,, I just thought a minute,,, if the tank is vented via the 2 pins at hose connection,,,, does that mean the motor itself does not require a pressureized tank,,and the tank is not suppose to build up pressure,, since it is vented,,, just not a cap vented tank,,,,, unless there is some varnish or smething that has the pin vents clogged ????"
