8 hp impeller

I recently purchased an 8 hp Johnson which ran great/good peeing, when the previous owner ran it for me. We believe it is an '86. However the id plate is gone so I am unsure on the year.

My question is; I want to establish a base line so I know what's been done and what needs to be done to avoid untimely breakdowns. How hard is it to change impeller? What kit # is it? I've looked online and saw where just the impeller is sold. Is there a gasket kit, or...? I will also change lower unit fluid. What else should I do?

Look on the transom brackets for a plate that has the model and serial number imprinted on it, also on the powerhead there may be a small quarter size cor plug with the same numbers. We need the model number in order to answer your questions.
