Ok, an update. The battery is being charged but after running for about 10 minutes, something breaks down and the motor stops. All the while, the tachometer is oscillating wildly and the volt meter shows less than 10 volts and keeps going lower until it hits 0 then the motor stops. I checked the battery voltage at that time and it is good at 12.5 v. After sitting for about half an hour, the boat starts and runs. One other clue is that if I drive the boat at a slow cruise, this stopping condition does not occur, only when I go above half speed which is maybe 18 mph at about 4200 rpm. HELP!The boat runs great but the battery is not being charged and after about 15 minutes of running will not start because the battery has been drained. Not sure if there is an electronic problem or if the pickup in the magneto is not functioning. Any clues where to look would be greatly appreciated.
