Got an 87 stratos boat that used to have an evinrude 150 xp on it and the motor blew so I have a 79 mercury 140 serial 5433673 that I am going to put on it. My key switch is in my boat and not made in the controls. I already purchased a set of panel mount controls for the switch over. So my questions pertain to the ignition switch which I'm assuming I will have to change also. I want to go with the push to choke in switch so would anyone know a part number for that switch and can you tell me how to wire it? Or will I even have to change the key switch?
I've included a picture of my wire colors.
I know the wires connected to the motor are
Red is battery +
Black is battery-
Orange/salmon wire runs to cdi
Brown runs to the rectifier
Grey is choke +
Yellow starter cylinoid
And white I have no idea it's not connected to anything.
