79 Johnson 85 tilt And trim

My tilt And trim won't go down it motor will raise but will not Lower what could be the cause.

Check the wiring on your switch and make sure all connections are clean and tight,And test the down side and make sure you have power to it on that side.If you have two wires on your electric motor,hold one to the pos side of battery and the other to the neg side.One way will lift your engine and if you reverse the wires on the battery it should go down.If it doese then chances are your switch is bad.Let me know.
