" I got this great deal on a b

" I got this great deal on a boat with a 1400 Merc. The guy swears the motor ran 2 yrs ago, but ran poorly. I replaced the distributor (old one had locked up from rust). I have no spark now. The distributor I got is slightly different from the old one. The old one was round with the trigger molded into the body. The new one is more rectangular with separate parts. As far as I can find out the one I was sold is an older unit. Anyway the readings from the trigger are: blk-wh = 0.0 ohms, brn-blk = 3.2 mega ohms, brn-wh = 2.8 mega ohms. Was I sold a bad distributor? Is it the correct part for my engine? Also the switchbox is a part # 332-2986A4. I have found documents saying this is also an older unit not installed on 78 models. Any problem with this?
Am at my wits end with this motor!!! "

" Jerry,

Is this a point

" Jerry,

Is this a points or electronic ignition distributor??? "

" It is an electronic ignition

" It is an electronic ignition. To be more clear on the description, the old distributor was one piece. The one I was sold has several pieces bolted together. Documentation I have found indicates the distributor I bought is pre-1970. "
