"I just cleaned the carb on my johnson 6. Everything looked great, except I found a small sliver of metal in the bowl. Would this have blocked fuel or anything that would keep the motor from running any faster than 5-7 mph? It would be putting along and all the sudden rev high for half a second and go back to the low rpm. Was this my problem? I'm not patient enough to wait and see when I get on the water...."
