76’ evinrude 85 hp lower unit compatibility

I’m replacing the crankshaft of of my 1976 Evinrude 85 hp, so basically the whole lower unit. I know certain models and horsepower can be cross compatible. Just having trouble getting and exact list of what year and horsepower will fit my motor. So far I have come up with years 73-79 years and 85 and 115 hp will fit my motor. Could someone confirm this or if there are any other models that will fit. Thanks
 
Please be clear------Crankshaft or driveshaft ?-----The lower unit from 73 to 77( early production ) will fit 85 to 135 models.----Later years can be used with proper modification.
 
Yes driveshaft, excuse me. What would be the easiest lower unit model to replace on this model, without having to do extensive modifications. And are you saying any horsepower from 85 to 135 will fit from years 73-77?

And what type of mods are we talking here? Welds or like adapters?
 
Clearly stated 1973 to early 1977 models.----Evinrude or Johnson V-4----These units shift to FORWARD with a DOWN motion of the shift rod.------Later models shift to FORWARD with an UP motion of the rod.----Requires changing intake manifold to adapt.-------Or bring it over I have a few lower units that would bolt on.
