Motor acts like it has a clutch and its slipping Seems to be worst when I turn the wheel back and forth Checked the lower unit oil and it was milky also started to make a humming noise, probably a bearing. Where do I start looking for the problem? Do they make total lower unit rebuild kits? Can anyone help?

if its bumping like u r hitting something,...forward gear and clutch dog,if its just slipping when u take off, probably the prop.,shearpin etc..

took lower unit apart no visible signs of any damage to bearings, gears, or clutch dog. The water pump, gaskets and seals don't look very stable

If the engine moves the rig at a slower rpm BUT when throttle is applied, the engine speeds up and the boat slows down....... that (as JWB states) is usually a slipped hub within the propeller (need another prop or get that one re-hubbed).

did some more searching tonight i found that the impeller has a couple of corners missing and gaskets are shot, the clutch dog splines on the shaft had a little bur all the way around the edge might have been hanging up? filed it came right off slides alot better as far as the prop it's cracked on a edge about a half inch in I guess i'm going to get a new impeller, prop, lower seal kit put it back together and hope for the best
