"I'm hoping for some help

"I'm hoping for some help please. I've got a 1982 75 hp outboard. I can only get half speed out of it. Idles just fine however when I push it to full throttle not much happens only half power. I can get the rpms to jump a little when I push the key choke in for a couple seconds. That made me think I was getting too much air so I changed float bowl gasket, gaskets between the carb and intake and the air box gaskets and all fuel lines from the fuel filter to the carbs. Fuel pump screen is clean, pickup tube in the tank is clean. Main jet in the carb is clean. Only thing left to change on fuel delivery is the squeeze bulb and the fuel line hookup fitting at the motor. When I squeeze the bulb under what power I have there is no change. Same result, no power, There is 120 psi on all cylinders. Maybe an electrical problem? New plugs too in the motor. I do have some oil leakage in the lower unit that I'm changing all the seal on but I'm not sure if that would affect motor perfomance. All marine dealers in the area are swamped so I'm trying to work through this myself. This thing ran great all last year and at first fire up this spring I've got problems. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance, Mark"

"Mark, Welcome to the Board! I

"Mark, Welcome to the Board! I have the exact same motor but a 1983 model. First thought is the timer is not advancing and might be stuck. With the engine off, push it to full thottle and watch the timer base under the flywheel move to the rubber stopper. If it is stuck, that could be why you have no power. Test for spark (lots of great test procedures on the board). Also check to see if the carb linkage is opening all three butterflies. Cold be timing and a Sync issue."

"thanks for the tips, as soon

"thanks for the tips, as soon as I get this lower unit seal job done I'll to some more troubleshooting, thanks again, Mark"

"I did check the timer and it

"I did check the timer and it is advancing all the way to the rubber stopper and moves freely. I did notice that the outside of the stator wheel is green, the timing ports (little black windows on the stator) are clean."
