I have an '06 75hp Merc Optimax, on my pontoon boat. the prop it has is a 14 x 13p , part #77340A45P13. Apparently there are several hub kits that "will" work with this prop/motor.
I think 'the book' shows Merc #835257K 9 , but there is also a k 1 and a k 6, and even a Q number. I am sure my original prop had the full length brass spline adapter
I have had 2 different hub spline adapter that both worked, I have used a long brass/bronze spline adapter, and a short spline adapter,, also there is a one piece plastic insert, and a two piece plastic insert that has small pins in the end to join the 2 halves.
So,,, what is the way to go,, long spline adapter, or short ??? Is there anyplace that just offers the plastic hub, without the brass spline ?

That washer-like deal that goes on the prop shaft first controls where the prop ends up. Not sure the hub length makes any difference.

yes the thrust washer goes on first,,, the prop bumps up against that, it looks like the longer spline adapter is is a better deal, offers maybe more support or something,,, just wondering if 'either' long or short spline adapter is 'ok' to use, or if there is some obscure reason not to use one or the other.

I guess,,,,, the plastic hud part, is the same size, length, design, no matter what hub kit you get,,,, some hubs are 40 bucks, some are close to 100 bucks,,,, for a 77340a45 p13 prop.
