75 hp merc not pumping water

" Just bought a used 7.5 hp merc for cheap but it doesn't pump water. Starts and runs great other than that. Not sure what year it is but doesn't appear to be real old. Think it might be water pump, I am mechanically inclined but have no idea where to start with repair "

Remove the nut at the intake

Remove the nut at the intake screen (1/2" socket). Remove the nut above the front of the lower unit(9/16" open end) the rest is easy.
