i replaced the gasket on the valve cover and once i restarted it it ran great for a couple of minutes. once i put it back in the water it started and stopped within a few seconds. when i checked the oil level the water gushed out. what is wrong and what do i need to do

it turns out that the crank case had completely filled with fuel. is it possible that somehow the fuel pumps malfunctions and dumped fuel into the valve chamber. looking for advice as to what i need to do to recover. should i fill with oil and let set for a time and drain and refill.

leaking diaphragm in the fuel pump.------------Or if carbureted you have a carburetor that is in need of repair ( flooding badly )

thanks, i took the fuel pumps apart and both have leaking diaphragms. the new pump is $150 and the Diaphragm is $105. how can i best maintain these pumps so this does not happen again. is it possible that the new ethanol in the gas is causing this issue.

Has this motor run for a while with " thin oil " if so has it done any damage ??------------------Replacement parts are often pricey because they have been re-engineered to deal with new fuels.
