"wondering where and how hard it is to change the thermostat on this engine. where is it, can't seem to find it, got a kit on the way along with a new water pump kit with housing. i am getting a little spray of water out of the top outlet hole and mostly water above the cavitation plate trough the open holes there and the rear swivil piviot shaft seal area in the same horizontal area if that makes since... anyway only a little coming out the top, thought more should be and want to change everything to know it's good to go... all other it runs great and performs well"

"David, it is normal that most of the water will travel down the exhaust housing and exit at the lower end.

However, changing a thermostat and a waterpump kit is never a bad thing and good insurance against an overheat.

Anyhow, have included a diagram from BRP that I doctored with an arrow to show where the thermostat is located. Hope this helps...

"thanks, good pic but still confused as to where this is. what all need's to be taken off to change the t stat. i only got one gasket in the kit. looks like the one thing in there is the spark plug so maybe in that area. hard to tell from the pic. any help is great, thanks again.. going to try and find it."
